Hotel Stays while in NYC

I was in NYC a few weeks for Fora’s Live Forum 2025 conference and it was amazing! The suppliers I was able to meet with and get to know their brands better was invaluable and being about to meet some many other advisors from all over the world was great for networking.

While in NYC, I had two great hotel stays. The hotel from the confrence and then I planned an extra day in NYC for som efun exploring. During the week for the confrence I stayed at a Fora Reserve property, 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge which was clean and beautiful. On my extra day, I stayed at the iconic TWA at JFK before my flight out. The TWA is a dream come true for an Avgeek like me to be able to see all the aircraft you can at JFK!

1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge

⭐️ Unforgettable NYC Stay: Spacious Suite, Stunning Bridge Views, and an In-Room Hammock!

From the moment I pulled up out front, the property felt like a serene escape—a true "home away from home." The exterior is incredibly green and lush, setting a calm, welcoming tone. The check-in process was smooth and pleasant, with staff who were both friendly and helpful.

🏙️ The Skyline Suite Experience

I stayed in the Skyline Suite, and I was immediately impressed by how spacious the room was. Considering how typically tiny rooms are in New York City, this was a huge, welcome surprise!

The absolute highlight, however, was the view. It is truly amazing! I had a direct, front-and-center panorama of the bridges. The Brooklyn Bridge dominated the view, complemented by close-by sightlines of the Manhattan Bridge and the Williamsburg Bridge down the way.

🛁 Comfort and Amenities

The in-room amenities were top-notch. The mini-bar was updated and offered a large selection. The bathroom was well-stocked with plenty of linens, and the staff proved to be very efficient and caring, providing a mini-fridge for my medication very promptly upon request.

My Favorite Feature: Relaxation

After a long day of exploring the city or attending my days at Live Forum, it was an absolute treat to return to the room and relax. The in-room hammock was a unique and wonderful touch—perfect for cozying up with a book or even sending a few emails on my laptop. To cap off the evening, a soak in the tub was the perfect way to unwind.

Bottom Line: This hotel offers a unique combination of exceptional space, stunning views, great service, and memorable amenities. I highly recommend it!

TWA Hotel

Iconic Experience

  • Unbeatable Convenience: The direct access to Terminal 5 and the short AirTrain ride to other terminals really makes flying out of JFK stress-free.

  • Immersive Design: You perfectly captured the feeling of stepping back into the Jet Age. The meticulous design, from the Eero Saarinen-designed TWA Flight Center architecture to the detail of the check-in counter modeled after a ticket booth (complete with the mock baggage belt!), sounds incredibly nostalgic and cool.

  • Aesthetic Details: The clean, futuristic white and red color scheme and those tall ceilings truly capture that mid-century modern aesthetic.

  • The "Red Carpet" Walk: Describing the red carpet on the skybridge as walking the red carpet of a movie premiere is a great way to put it—it adds to the sense of occasion!

🛏️ Deluxe Runway View King Room

  • The Ultimate Avgeek Feature: Having the bed facing the windows for a runway view of the action between Terminal 4 and 5 is definitely the highlight of that room type!

  • Room Observation: It's good to know the rooms are on the smaller side but clean and functional, and that even the small details like the mini-bar area were cute. It's a shame about the "privacy please" sign being changed from the hard plastic to silicone, as the little details can really complete the retro feel.
